Dear Scholarship Applicant:

The Maine Funeral Directors Association (MFDA) is happy to announce that it has recently resurrected its scholarship program which is designed to recognize and reward those deserving students currently enrolled in an accredited program of Mortuary Science. The MFDA membership has long been committed to professionalism and excellence in funeral service. That said, the association has a strong belief that by recognizing those students who excel in their pursuit of a career in funeral service, it will help to ensure the future of funeral service in Maine. Simply put, education is the key to our future and the future of funeral service.

The scholarship application and accompanying documents must be forwarded by October 1 of each calendar year to the parties outlined in the Scholarship Award Application. It is imperative that you follow the instructions in order to be considered for the award.

All applications will be evaluated by an independent source and the Scholarship Committee will be advised of the decision. The MFDA Scholarship Committee reserves the right not to make an award if there are no applications or if the applicants do not meet the predetermined criteria.

The sponsor of the student recipient will be notified by the Scholarship Committee and the scholarship will be presented to the candidate at the MFDA Annual Meeting in December. Scholarship proceeds will be awarded directly to the scholarship recipient.
